Jun. 15th, 2009 @ 01:03 pm Latest Writing Developments

Hi all,

I get a lot of questions about current and upcoming projects. I wanted to take a few moments to update everyone, as with the latest happenings, I don’t expect to have much time for blog updates for a while.

Books…

“Necromancer”, the second Wendy Markland novel, should be out in the near future. The editing is done, but I’ve yet to be given an exact release date.

I have a draft of the third Wendy Markland book. But it needs a lot of work still before my publisher or editor lay eyes on it!

Film…

One project is progressing steadily, one might even use the word “rapidly”. But I can’t talk about this one due to a nondisclosure agreement I signed. More on that when I can talk about it.

Another project has, in the span of the last few hours, gone from stalled to looking very good. I don’t know how much I should say at this point, so I won’t say much. Yes, I know, I’m a horrible tease! But I don’t want to risk saying something that upsets a producer or build up everyone’s hopes and then have the project to fall through. Long story short, I have until two months from today to turn in a third draft of a screenplay that looks to be in line for development as a possible film for TV. I don’t even want to risk jinxing things by giving the name of the channel at this point. Again, I’ll say more on this when I can.

And, last but certainly not least, the very talented ( and very lovely ) Karita Fleming is hard at work on pre-production of a film version of “Predators or Prey?”, the first Wendy Markland novel. Again, more on that as things develop.

Other News…

I’m still in the market for a new agent. If anyone has the experience and is interested, I want to hear from you. If you want of anyone who has the experience and might be interested, I want to hear from them, please.

Keep watching for more updates as projects develop.

Hi all,

Bad news to report, I’m afraid. I no longer have an agent. Long story short, the agent I was working with returned to earlier endeavors and shut down his entire screenwriting/literary division. For the moment, legally, he’s still my agent, though he isn’t working in my interests anymore. As per the terms of our contract, I am unable to sign with a new agent until August, 2009 unless he chooses to void our contract before then.

So, I find myself, once more, in need of an agent. If you are an agent seeking new clients, or know an agent who is, please let me know. I need an agent who will represent all facets of my career - novels, screenplays and comic book projects.

Jan. 28th, 2009 @ 11:24 am Lulu Blog Ending

Hi all!

As most of you are probably aware, I self-published my first three novels. The self-publisher I used was Lulu. Lulu provided each of their authors with a blog on their site. Besides this blog, I have been maintaining a nearly identical one on Lulu’s site, as well as several others. However, I have just received word that, due to lack of use by enough people, Lulu is taking down all of their blog pages sometime next month. So, within a short time, my Lulu blog will be gone. I will continue to maintain this and the other blogs.

My Lulu blog page also doubles as a store for each access to my Lulu-published books. Though that page will be gone, the books will still be there and available. They can be found at:

“Winter’s Rite” -

“Well Wishes: -

“Gauntlet” -

Nov. 26th, 2008 @ 12:14 pm Agent

Hi, all!

I have great news to share. It’s finally happened. I have an agent! Anyone interested in hiring me for writing projects or setting up a book signing, please contact him. Contractually, I am no longer able to simply send out work or agree to appear at signings or other appearances. That doesn’t mean that I’m no longer accessible to my fans, though! Far from it, in fact. A large part of why I use these blogs is to keep that accessibility and to stay in touch with you all. But, again, anyone wanting me for an appearance or work, please contact my agent, Scotty Rushing, via the URL

Oct. 19th, 2008 @ 09:40 am Spangwobble

Hi, all!

Wondering about the admittedly odd title of this blog post? Me, too. “What?” is the word probably going through your mind right now. Let me explain…

A few days ago, for no readily discernable reason, the word “Spangwobble” abruptly popped into my mind. ( If you’re now wondering if I’m insane, let me assure you that I am - mental instability being a firm prerequisite for being an author and all ) After the word popped into my mind, I began wondering just who Spangwobble is or what a Spangwobble might be. A couple of things occurred to me, but nothing that I got really excited about. As I thought about it, an idea occurred to me - let my fans tell me just who or what Spangwobble is. So, here’s the deal. I’m going to leave this post on several blogs that I use. I want you to tell me what you think Spangwobble should be. Whichever reasonably all-ages idea seems to be the one posed the most by the end of December, 2008, that’s what Spangwobble will become. Then, whenever I’m able to do so between project deadlines ( I’m currently working on the second Wendy Markland novel for Dark Castle Lords Publications ) I’ll write a short story about Spangwobble and post it on the same blogs that this post will be on. I say “reasonably all-ages” because anyone of any age may well stumble upon the story. Besides, my first two novels were aimed at teens/young adults. Which means they’re part of my fan base. A lot of musicians and stand-up comedians get the audience into the act. Consider this an author’s way of doing the same. So, again I ask you, just who or what is Spangwobble?

Jul. 7th, 2008 @ 03:17 pm Pre-Order “Predators or Prey?” On All Romance Ebooks!

Hi all,

We’re three days from the release of my latest novel, “Predators or Prey?”. It’s being published by Dark Castle Lords Publications. Only minutes ago, I received an e-mail from my publisher letting me know that “Predators or Prey?” is available for pre-order at All Romance Ebooks (

But wait…you’re thinking, “The book is horror, not romance. Right? So…um…what’s it doing for sale on a romance novel website?” Yes, it’s horror. But there are also romance/relationship subplots woven all through it. And those subplots are enough for it to not only count for sales as a romance, but they were also enough for All Romance Ebooks to give “Predators or Prey?” a heat rating of two flames…

Jul. 7th, 2008 @ 03:03 pm “Winter’s Rite” Promo

Hi all,

As I’m sure you all know by now I self-published my first three novels. A few days ago I received an e-mail from a gentleman who runs a website for self-published authors. The site is called “The Shared Self-Publishing Experience” (

Scott Harper

http://www.shared-self-publishing.com/index.html ). The site is set up so that self-published authors can submit articles detailing the experience of getting their self-published novel into print. It’s categorized and authors with books in multiple categories are allowed to submit multiple articles. Only one article per category is allowed. After exchanging a few e-mails with the site’s owner, I wrote a piece for my first novel, “Winter’s Rite”, and submitted it. For those who may care to read it, that article is now live on the website and can be found at http://www.shared-self-publishing.com/journey-of-winters-rite.html. I have also submitted a piece for my third novel, “Gauntlet”, but is has not yet undergone review for posting.

Jun. 9th, 2008 @ 11:00 am Virus Warning

Hi all,

I just had an e-mail from my publisher regarding a warning against a new virus. This was the first I’ve heard of this. My publisher didn’t even seem to know just how much validity should be attributed to this. But, I wanted to bring it to everyone’s attention just in case. Below is the relevant portion of the e-mail I received:

BIG virus coming

for this virus!

I checked snopes.com, this morning, and it is for real!!

Get this E-mail message sent around to your contacts ASAP.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY

AND CONTACTS!
You should be alert during the next several weeks. Do not

open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD,'

regardless of who sent it to you.

It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns'

the whole hard disc (C drive) of your computer. This virus

will be received from someone who has your e-mail address

in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to

send this e-mail to all your contacts. It is better to receive

this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent

to you by a friend, do not open it.! This includes all cards,

too. Shut down your computer immediately.

This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been

classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.

This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there

is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply

destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where your vital

information is kept.

I checked with Norton Anti-Virus, and they are gearing up
